Rubber stamps are most commonly made out of red rubber though I’ve seen purple and blue.  They can either be wood-mounted or unmounted/cling.  The latter will require an acrylic block for stamping purposes.  I don’t have many wood-mounted rubber stamps because they are a bit of a pain in the butt to organize and store.  However, I have always had the greatest success stamping with rubber stamps regardless of whether they are wood-mounted or cling.
